What is Solar PV?
A solar photovoltaic panel comprises multiple layers of semiconductor material, typically silicon. When light interacts with this material, it generates an electric current.
Contrary to popular belief, solar panels don't rely solely on direct sunlight for energy production.
They can generate electricity even on cloudy days and during winter months. The power output of a panel is influenced by the intensity of ultraviolet (UV) light, commonly referred to as sunshine.
UV light from the sun shines down and hits the solar photovoltaic panels.
Direct Current (DC) is created and power is sent down to the inverter.
The systems inverter changes DC current into AC current, ready to use.
Any surplus energy can be sent to a battery and stored in DC current.
